Separate Paths
When I was riding Ernie on Sunday, it occurred to me that some friends were across town at that very moment riding their horses in a different park. I didn’t know exactly where in the park they were or what they were discussing, I only knew they were riding – on a similar path to me but in a different place.
Our faith journey and relationship with God is much the same. Each of us is on a different path – a path known only to ourselves and God. At times I, and other Christians, judge or condemn another Christian for not studying the Bible diligently, praying regularly, or attending church once a week or more. Without seeing others’ private moments or knowing the condition of their hearts, we do not know where they are on their path, anything about their spiritual practices or their relationship with God. Just because others are on a different path doesn’t mean they’re not walking with God. Only when we can see someone’s heart as only God can, will we be fit to judge someone else.
Has spiritual pride crept into your life? Who might you have been critical of and how can you encourage that person in his or her faith?
Certainly daily prayer and Bible study are vital for developing our relationship with God. That’s how the Holy Spirit will expose sin in our lives and rid our hearts of hatred, bitterness and hopelessness. These are still very personal activities, however, on our intimately private journey with God. Only He knows the condition of our hearts. Only He is capable of judging our devotion to Him and our dedication to living a life that honors Him.
Where are you on your faith walk? What one thing could you do today to draw closer to God? Are there people you need to apologize to for passing judgment or thinking less of them for what you perceived to be a lack of commitment to their faith? What feelings or motives might you be harboring in your heart that would bring you shame if they were exposed? Remember, nothing is hidden from God.
1 Corinthians 4:5
“So be careful not to jump to conclusions before the Lord returns as to whether or not someone is faithful. When the Lord comes, he will bring our deepest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. And then God will give to everyone whatever praise is due.”
1 Samuel 16:7b
“The Lord doesn’t make decisions the way you do! People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person’s thoughts and intentions.”

INFO FOR SEPTEMBER CAMPING TRIPS:
For any and all that are interested, we will be camping at St. Croix State Park, arriving Friday evening, September 21, and returning home on Sunday, September 23. The Geibes have reserved site # H17 in the horse campground. The horse campground DOES have showers and corrals. The park also has cabins as well as non-equestrian campgrounds.
We would love to see you there, if you are able to make it! You can't miss us - our trailer has a large Hope & Horses logo on the side.
Please be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible, as the park does fill quickly in the fall.

SECOND CAMPING TRIP: We are also camping at Wild River State Park, arriving Friday evening, September 14, and returning home on Sunday, September 16. There are 6 first-come, first-served equestrian campsites remaining available for that weekend. ***Please keep in mind that this trip is on the same weekend as the Hope & Horses September Trail Ride at Murphy-Hanrehan Park.***

Don't forget Hope & Horses has a day ride on Sept. 15. Unfortunately, conflicting activities have been scheduled for that weekend. We'll try to prevent that from happening in the future.
As noted in the original post:
***Please keep in mind that this trip is on the same weekend as the Hope & Horses September Trail Ride at Murphy-Hanrehan Park.***
The outing is an alternate option for any who may like to join us. Not intended to supercede the trail ride at Murphy.
