Dawn Simpson is coordinating a group of volunteers from the Twin Cities to go to Rushford, MN to help with flood relief. Our total group size is limited to 15 people. First come first serve. If you want to help out, please email Dawn at sclptsbydwn@frontiernet.net or call (612) 382 9495 or (952)985 5284. Dawn's sister lives in Rushford and is helping coordinate things "on the ground" there. Here is the plan....
We will meet this Saturday morning in the Hosanna West parking lot at 6 a.m. We'll roll out at 6:30a.m. and arrive in Peterson, where the volunteer assignment office is around 8:30 a.m. We plan on being there until 4 p.m. at which time we'll return home. You can expect to be back around 7 p.m. If you're inclined to work the whole weekend, there's an option to stay overnight with Dawn's sister.
Some other things to consider:
You will need long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and sturdy water resistant boots. If you have shovels, rakes, masks, heavy duty work gloves, or protective eye wear, please bring them. Please also bring food and water for yourself since there's nothing local to buy. If you want to stay overnight, please bring your own sleeping bag and necessities.
Questions: Please contact Dawn.
