Update on Valerie...please continue to pray with us

Dear Friends,

It seems like forever since we have written, but things have been like a whirlwind here. BUT, how wonderful to be home!! When we feel a little overwhelmed, we think "isn't it great to be out of the hospital!" Yesterday we went for a Dr. visit, and the good news was Valerie's hemoglobin was 9.6, there was no infection in any blood cultures, her anitbodies were down a little bit, and her arm and foot seem to be doing better. The bad news is we "crashed" entering the hospital through the revolving doors. That wasn't very smart!! The guard pushed the "slow' button, and we were almost through when "something" happened and we went down in a tangle of arms, legs, and walker. Thank the Lord nothing was broken, but we are certainly sore and bruised.

I read today that 128,000 people have died in the cyclone. That makes our little lives seem insignificant, but we know that our Lord cares about the sparrow, and He cares about us. From a humanistic standpoint we would think "why would God care about one heart, when so many die every day?" From a Christian view we know that Jesus cared very much about Lazarus, about Jairus' daughter, about Peter's mother in law, and He invites us to bring all of our heartaches and griefs to Him. We believe the "prayer of faith shall save the sick," if it is for our benefit and His glory. Your prayers have certainly demonstrated that. The Dr's at Baptist Hospital said they were amazed after reading Valerie's records.

Yesterday, the Heart Failure Dr. wanted to talk about transplants, but Valerie's antibodies are still so high that we don't really want to discuss that. We are still praying for the healing of Valerie's heart, and we don't accept "NO" until we hear it from the Lord. If it is His will for a transplant than we are in agreement, but her chances aren't great with such high antibodies. She has been working hard on her walking, and "sit to stand" exercises. She is getting much stronger. We went for a long golf cart ride the other day (we may look crazy, but we don't care), and she still marvels at the wonder of being out of the hospital bed and out in the sunshine. I do too!!! Gene and I went camping with the horses for a couple of days while Phillip (Val's husband) came from Fargo for a visit. It was wonderful to be out in the woods with my horse, in the springtime, visiting with friends, and lots to eat!!

If the Lord brings Valerie to your mind, would you continue to pray for healing?? The miracle will be complete when Valerie's heart is beating on its own. A get well card we received this week from a little girl in Fargo said "Keep your heart thumping, please." I wake up in the night listening for Val's Vads beating, you can hear them through out the house. I thank the Lord for all of the technology available today. He has been so good to us. God Bless and Keep You, and help us to shine in this dark world.

LOVE IN CHRIST, Sharon
